Located just west of New Haven, Orange is comprised of rolling hills, lakes, river and forests. A simple farming community until the mid-1940s, the town has developed into a well-planned residential community which retains its New England simplicity. Orange offers the best of both worlds with all of the conveniences of a large town combined with the close-knit community feeling found in small town living.
The town is a part of the highly acclaimed Amity Regional School District, along with neighboring towns of Bethany and Woodbridge. The school system consistently gains high praise and offers award-winning blue-ribbon schools. Orange also boasts an outstanding parks and recreation department and recreational facilities that include tennis and basketball, ball fields, ice skating, walking trails, jogging track, community pool, and a fitness center. The public may enjoy golf at either the Orange Hills Country Club or Grassy Hill Country Club and there are two courses at the private Racebrook Country Club. The Paugassett Club is pool and tennis club that is open year round. The town is home to many events throughout the year including outdoor concerts, fireworks and numerous fairs and festivals for all ages to enjoy. An abundance of shopping along the Boston Post Road allows residents the convenience of being close to just about everything. Dining options also abound with a wide range of restaurants from pubs to fine dining.
Throughout town, stone walls and dairy, vegetable and tree farms still dot the landscape, serving as a reminder of the town’s farming origins. Today, Orange offers a great diversity of housing options at every price point from modest to magnificent.
